Totally Personal: Stjepan Hauser One-half of the 2CELLOS tells us some interesting details about himself
It is almost impossible to imagine the speed at which Stjepan Hauser and Luka Sulic move.
They have traveled over a million kilometers, and performed more than 300 concerts in 40 countries, separately [as 2CELLSOS] and accompanying Elton John; on bookstore shelves now is their first official biography from Menart: “Big Bang" by Angelo Jurkas!
This summer was reserved for their Croatian tour. After sold out concerts in Varazdin, Osijek and Pula, they have the last concert of this tour coming up, in Zadar on 11 August at the Forum. Since the Tourist Board tells us that they have been swamped with inquiries from visitors from Germany, England, America, Japan, Switzerland, Greece, and London, we expect that so we suspect that this concert will be a repeat of the spectacle of Pula.
In the meantime, we briefly caught up with Stjepan Hauser and learned some details about him that we knew nothing about.
When were you happiest? I’m rarely happy; maybe there have been a few times in my life, but only for a day or two.
What are you most afraid of? Myself and my own honesty.
What person, living today, do you most admire and why? I can’t think of anyone. In my life, there have been several people who were my idols and heroes, who inspired me and who I admired, but eventually I outgrew them, stopped idealizing them, and began to focus on my development.
What has been the most unpleasant moment of your life? Nothing has been so unpleasant that I could point to it.
Which part of your personality do you dislike the most? That I am perpetually dissatisfied, but at the same time, that can be good for ongoing development and improvement.
What do you dislike the most in others? Laziness, arrogance, superficiality, sloppiness and irresponsibility.
What bothers you the most in your appearance? I hate it when my haircut is wrong, not the way I wanted it. When you have long hair, there’s always the risk of a bad haircut.
What is your least attractive habit? I get nervous in social situations; I do not go out.
What would you choose to be at a masquerade ball? I really don’t know.
What is your strongest forbidden pleasure? Ice cream. I mean, I could never eat as much as I could and want to, because I would be veeery fat.
What do you owe your parents? Everything. If it were not for them, there would be none of this.
What are you like when you're in love? Awful. Restless, jealous and possessive, but also very romantic.
What or who is the greatest love of your life? Cello and music.
Have you ever said "I love you" and not meant it? Never.
Which would you say are the most beautiful women in the world (along with Croatia, of course)? There are beautiful women everywhere, but [beauty] is not what’s important. What is most important is the chemistry that happens, and scent; a partner is selected by the scent. If their scent attracts and you feel strong chemistry, a woman can be from Mars and have three heads. But it doesn’t happen too often, once or twice in your lifetime that you feel something so strongly.
What is your biggest disappointment? Realizing how much cruelty and ruthless exists in this world. But people should not let this take over their lives, but should make their own wonderful world.
If you could travel go back in a time machine where would you go? I'd go back in time to before Mozart and write all of his masterpieces before him (laughs).
How do you relax? Walking. Long walks in nature.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you? Eventually you realize that what is most important is to remain true to yourself, because when you do, you cannot go wrong. You must be yourself and that's it! A lot of people try to force themselves into a mold to fit in society, but the key is to be yourself.
